Happy birthday, Internet! The Internet, of course, has changed many things for the good. But is it all good? What is the biggest problem the Internet has created for you or the world?
I find that the internet has become an obsession and is the root cause of the laundry pile up, clean dishes shortage, and tripping hazard in my home!  :)

Nonetheless, Happy Birthday Internet!

I. Q.

Hawk, are you cute?

Cadbury Recall Linked to Melamine Scare

Foreign Governments Raise Alarm on Oreos, M & Ms, Snickers and More

A Cadbury recall of 11 chocolate products is a precautionary action likely linked to the melamine tainted milk powder being sold in China, according to ABC4.com. Cadbury is a Britain-based candymaker. The products included in the Cadbury recall include Cadbury Dark Chocette, 45g and 80g, Cadbury Eclairs, 180g, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate, 150g Pumpkin and 300g Chinese New Year 2008, Cadbury Dark Chocolate, 40g, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bulk Pack, 5kg, Cadbury Dark Chocolate Bulk Pack, 5kg, Cadbury Dairy Milk Hazelnut Chocolate Bulk Pack, 5kg, Cadbury Dairy Milk Cookies Chocolate Bulk Pack, and 5kg, Cadbury Hazelnut Praline Chocolate, 312g (2008 Chinese New Year).

The Cadbury recall follows reports that Cadbury chocolate products made in Beijing, China and distributed in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia contain the industrial product melamine.

Melamine is a chemical used in plastics and fertilizer production and is dangerous to humans. It can cause kidney stones, death, and other ailments.

Dishonest suppliers in China use melamine to trick milk product protein testers after watering down the milk products. Because it mimics the effects of protein, melamine disguises the watering down of the product.

Of more immediate significance to U.S. based consumers than the Cadbury recall, two U.S. foodmakers are reportedly investigating claims that high levels of melamine were found in Oreos, M & Ms and Snickers sold in Indonesia. With Halloween around the corner, U.S. consumers need to know whether Oreos, M & Ms and Snickers sold in the U.S. are safe for human consumption. Consumers need to be especially wary about checking labels of foods containing milk products purchased on the internet as those foods may not have been intended for the U.S. market.

Nabisco, the maker of Oreos, does not have any information on its website about the concern with its product overseas.

E. Boins

Say it in your head.

Now, say it aloud.

Now, imagine Hawk walking up to the stove - "cancake" (pancake) - as he touches the cast iron.

Now translate.

E. Boins.

All I did was turn around and put the bowl in the sink.  He's ok though, I don't think it really "got him".
We've all heard the stories about the thousands of babies in China who have be given tainted milk, and they're hospitalized, sicks, and/or dying.  The milk is tainted with Melamine which has a 66% nitrogen base and is TOXIC!

Please watch this video, and be careful of giving your kiddos chocolate that have "powdered milk" bases after Halloween/Fall festivities!  Also, be careful with the candies that you are handing out!

We don't KNOW that these candies are tainted, but because they are made in China with the same products that the formula is made from, we can NEVER be too safe!

There's already been an instance of finding some candy that has been tainted:

With Halloween fast approaching comes a warning to parents
and kids regarding Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold milk
chocolate coins imported from China. The Canadian Food
Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat,
distribute or sell the candy. It is sold across Canada by
Costco and may also have been sold in bulk packages or as
individual pieces at various dollar and bulk stores. The
chocolate contains melamine which is the same chemical
responsible for killing several babies in China, and
sickening thousands more.

Thanks!

And Classroom Representative goes to....

KYLIE!

She came home very excited!  Then she got her feathers ruffled when she said "Mom, one of the other boys that I was running against got so mad at me and told me I BETRAYED HIM!  It's not MY fault he didn't win!"

I was like.. yeah, Kylie, it really was!

She's happy!  What does this mean for her?  I HAVE NO IDEA!

Next weekend, she's trying out for honor choir.  I was kind of hoping she'd decide not to.

Although she sings exceptionally well, I'm not sure it's going to be her thing!  They're looking for CHOIR MEMBERS, not the next Super Rock Star!!  She's not really grasping that they are looking for someone who signs the notes on the sheet music, not the runs that she wants to sing to make it sound like Hannah Montana!

Kylie's Student Council Results are Today

Kylie entered the campaign for Student Council!  She's running for Class Representative, and she's very excited!  The votes were yesterday, and she'll find out the results today.

She says that 18 people in the class told her they voted for her, but you know how that really goes!

We will see!  :)
